About me, Renie!

Originally from the Netherlands, fluent in English, I finally ended up in the south of France by marrying a handsome French guy 25 years ago. But when you marry into a huge French family, it's like marrying into a Greek one.. Do you get the picture? First thing the women of the family taught me, is how to make a decent dinner for the poor lad that I was going to be 'taking care of'!
All crazy things aside, my family in law is absolutely adorable and the women actually showed me how to cook 'from scratch', they taught me all about the traditional dishes that go with family milestones and festivities in the villages (and there are many!) and the importance of the quality of the products.
I have started my Dutch foodblog in 2015 - www.reniesfransekeuken.nl (Google can translate it automatically for you) - and, thanks to the family and the foodblog, I am now a culinary journalist for several Dutch magazines like 'Côte & Provence' and 'En Route'.
Come and walk through the ancient center of Avignon or Saint-Rémy-de-Provence with me and I will tell you all about the general French way of living, the wonderful traditions here in the Provence and family life. Oh, and food, don't forget the food! We are going to experience various sweet and savoury tastings and talk about the origin and how they are produced.
Do you like cooking? Let's talk recipes! I always love to learn more about other country's cooking 'secrets' and, of course, I will share tips & tricks from the French family kitchen.
And let's not forget the history part of the tour. Although it is not the main part, I will tell you about the amazing ancient buildings like the Pope's Palace and the different squares in Avignon and about Nostradamus and Van Gogh in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
I really hope to see you soon, I would love to walk one of these tours with you! Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
Love, Renie
